WikiLeaks on its website, July 2012 On June 19, 2012, Julian Paul Assange (Assange), founder and director of WikiLeaks , fled to the Ecuador embassy in London to seek political asylum there. The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom had dismissed his appeal against extradition to Sweden, where he faced allegations of sexual assault on two women . Assange had denied the allegation and reiterated that the charges were politically motivated to extradite him to the United States of America where he might be tried on espionage charges . WikiLeaks, an online media organization, claimed to publish credible information from various anonymous sources on its website.
